I woke up Saturday morning to hear the bad news of Seve Ballesteros’ passing. There is going to be a lot of Seve talk for the next few days and hopefully I’ll get some thoughts together  from the Tuna guys. But, there will be a ton of Seve in todays links, so I’m just going to put the title of the article with the link.

Ended making it to Stonewater this weekend with Mr. 096 and another friend. Weather was amazing and go figure, I wake up today to see 65 and sunny. First email of the day to Spencer… “Ugh, fuck this. Let’s go golfing”.  Shot 84 and am ecstatic. Then Mr. 096 and I decided to wake up butt-ass early Sunday morning and get a round of 18 in before the Mother’s Day festivities began.  We teed off at Fowler’s Mill at 7:18 and finished up by 11:15. I wish every round could be played that quickly.

What’s new this week? Well, I’m going to try to stop chewing tobacco and start P90X (again) today. It’s gonna be an interesting time in Real AC land, but it’s all for the better. I know I’m going to end up only getting like 3-6 weeks through P90X before we give up on it (again). Hopefully, the no dip thing works out better… Anyway enough from me. Enjoy the Monday reading.

Thank God it’s Friday. It’s been along week for this guy. Today I’m getting my windshield replaced on my car. It’s only like 6 months over due, but hey better late than never. I’m so sick of this god-damned weather. Everyday the chances of rain changes. Monday 20%, Wednesday 40%, Friday 50%. Am I asking too much? Is some sunshine out of the question? If it rains tomorrow, I’m going to ROAST.

Trying to play a course called Stonewater this weekend. Keep your fingers crossed for me. The theme of the year has been wet and I’m hoping to buck the trend. I think I’ve played like 4-6 rounds so far this year and only one of said rounds has been dry. I love Ohio and all, but this needs to change. Southern Ohio is all blooming and warm, but we’re still gray and gloomy in Northeast Ohio. Sweet.

Here’s a review of Geoff Shackelford’s site (Stephen Hardy Goodwin)

Last year Anthony Kim took home his first Tour victory in North Carolina at Quail Hollow Club. Ben Curtis, who made a Sunday surge with a final round 65 finished alone in second. Jim Furyk finished alone in 7th, Stewart Cink, Adam Scott, and Fred Couples finished T8, Hunter Mahan, Phil Mickelson, and Pat Perez finished T12, and J.B. Holmes and Vijay Singh finished T17 to name a few of last year’s top 25. This year the course will play at par 72 and 7442 yards. Tiger will be in the field this week and is obviously a favorite this year. Some other guys who might score well based off last previous appearances: Geoff Ogilvy, Stewart Cink, Phil Mickelson, Hunter Mahan and the reigning Masters Champion Angel Cabrera. The scores are going to be low this weekend with the average winning score in the last six years in -12 and the scores becoming progressively lower year after year. The picks after the jump.

What was known last year as the Wachovia, and is now sponsored by Wells Fargo who purchased Wachovia, the tournament held at Quail Hollow will be absent of any corporate sponsorships.  While this isn’t exactly huge news, it’s both refreshing and honest, as it’s really not fun seeing a company taking taxpayer dollars for a bailout pasting their name over everything in sight in something as frivolous as a golf tournament.

But I like it for different reasons…it’s just cool.

I’m sick of referring to every tournament by a company’s name, and for an event as prestigious as this one, it’s nice to give the course the credit it deserves.  Quail Hollow is in my top 10 courses in America, and if you ask the pros, they’ll agree.  So…kudos to Wells Fargo and congrats to Quail Hollow Club.

(Is kudos the right thing to give in this case?  Whatever, it’s cool.)
