This one was not good. What is it about Hedo that just makes the Cavs wet the bed? The Cavs have won like 5 straight vs the Raptors going into last night, including at least 2 straight in Toronto. I didn’t watch as much of the game as I should have, but the girlfriend is a Yankees fan and I was pretty interested in the CC vs Cliff matchup. On a side note, how shitty was it watching that? CC vs Cliff Lee. It’s just a twist of the knife in every Cleveland fan’s heart. Back to back Cy Young winners, both no longer with the team. Ah what could have been. Oh well demz be da breaks. Back to a real sport… (more…)

Things are changing a little bit around here. There will still be some golf coverage, but I’m going to start to recap and review all things Cleveland Cavaliers. Some things here will be just simple bullet points and others will be full blown posts. It’s kinda just whatever the hell kind of mood I’m on that given day. If you were stuck under a rock or just totally oblivious, the NBA season kicked off with the Cavs hosting the C’s at the Q last night.

So yesterday around 4:30 I get an email from Spencer096 saying that he had access to two tickets for opening night. We just had to pay the price of the tickets. Apparently some guy he works with has season tickets, but got his hands on some better ones so he was selling his originals. I was all juiced up before this and now we’re going to the game!?!. I called the girlfriend to cancel plans for the night and ran right to the ATM on the way home from work. Got home at like 5:45 and had to get the Witness tee ready. A few “extra curricular’s” later it was time to roll to the Q. I’m not going to lie here, the anticipation of this season kicking off has been almost unbearable. All over the internet you see comments about how there is finally a team in C-town to get excited about. I mean, I shit you not, while standing in the cluster-fumble of trying to actually get into the Q we must have talked to like 5 other people who were all making comments about how this is our time. Everyone was actually excited about the fact that we had a reason to be excited. (more…)

An absolutely dominant performance by Henrik Stenson on Sunday led to a four shot win at the 2009 Players.  A clinic.  Textbook.  Any adjective you can think of that refers to perfection would apply here, it was that good.

A bogey free final round for one of the world’s best, and most underrated golfers, needs a little more context.  TPC Sawgrass was playing pretty tough with big numbers popping up all over the place, dashing the hopes of 54-hole leader Alex Cjeka and one Eldrick Woods, among others.  But Stenson wasn’t fazed in the slightest, laying precision bombs all over the place and putting on the proverbial blinders en route to today’s 66.

Simply flawless…I don’t know how much else can be said.

I wish I could be at the Players…damn.

This week’s tournament is the “5th major” at the PLAYERS Championship and is held at the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass. The course will be playing at a par 72 and 7215 yards. Last year Sergio Garcia defeated Paul Goydos in a playoff to take the title. For his victory last year Garcia pocketed $1.71 million. On a side note, if you have some free time and do not subscribe to Golf Digest, check out this article on Goydos. It’s a great read about Paul and the loss of his ex-wife Wendy and her battle with chronic headaches and addiction. Sawgrass provides a great layout for one of the most exciting tournaments of the year with two awesome closing holes that provide some very interesting finishes, ask Sean O’Hair. In 2007 O’Hair plunked two into the water, one from the tee and the other from the drop zone to finish with a quadruple bogey seven on the infamous island green, 17th hole.

The winning score last year was -5. And scores this year should be relatively similar, maybe -10. Some of the other players who finished well last year: Ernie Els T6, J.B. Holmes T10, Fred Couples T15, Kenny Perry T15, Stewart Cink T21, Phil Mickelson T21, and Jim Furyk T27. This year you can expect to see the usual big names at the top of the board: Tiger, Phil, Sergio, Perry, Ogilvy… Some other storylines to follow this weekend: Chad Campbell’s follow-up performance to the Masters and a T10 finish here last year, Tiger’s return to Sawgrass and not winning there since 2001, Phil Mickelson trying to take home another title in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL winning in 2007, and will Sergio’s putter speak Spanish this week allowing him to take home back to back titles. Some key pairings: Tiger, Ernie, and Justin Leonard, Phil, Adam Scott, and Dustin Johnson, Sergio, Zach Johnson, and K.J. Choi, and Ogilvy, Paddy, and Stricker. Picks after the jump.

Last year Anthony Kim took home his first Tour victory in North Carolina at Quail Hollow Club. Ben Curtis, who made a Sunday surge with a final round 65 finished alone in second. Jim Furyk finished alone in 7th, Stewart Cink, Adam Scott, and Fred Couples finished T8, Hunter Mahan, Phil Mickelson, and Pat Perez finished T12, and J.B. Holmes and Vijay Singh finished T17 to name a few of last year’s top 25. This year the course will play at par 72 and 7442 yards. Tiger will be in the field this week and is obviously a favorite this year. Some other guys who might score well based off last previous appearances: Geoff Ogilvy, Stewart Cink, Phil Mickelson, Hunter Mahan and the reigning Masters Champion Angel Cabrera. The scores are going to be low this weekend with the average winning score in the last six years in -12 and the scores becoming progressively lower year after year. The picks after the jump.
